About the event
The holiday season can be both joyful and overwhelming—for clients and for therapists. Surviving the Holidays: Therapist Edition is a three-hour continuing education workshop designed to help mental health professionals navigate the unique challenges this season brings.
Therapists often face increased client crises, boundary dilemmas, and professional isolation, while also juggling personal and family demands. This training addresses those realities head-on, focusing on both self-care and ethical practice. Participants will explore common holiday dilemmas such as accepting client gifts, navigating dual relationships at seasonal events, and managing scheduling or availability during breaks. Supervisory responsibilities will also be emphasized, highlighting how supervisors can support clinicians and interns through increased stress and ethical risks.
Through case studies, group discussion, and practical exercises, attendees will create a personalized “Holiday Survival Plan.” Strategies include mindfulness practices, boundary-setting, peer consultation, and evidence-based interventions for clients dealing with grief, family conflict, or seasonal stress.
